Coarsegold Elementary School is the school that two of my grandsons attend. That have excellent teachers and an interesting curriculum.

Except a few select teachers, the teachers are all very nice and will answer your child's questions in a good explanation. Children are encouraged to do extra work, although extra credit is not allowed (county law). Many children are challenged to do many extra-curricular activities. And also, as a student, it seems as if the teachers a less communicative with the students until 6/7/8th grades. The principal is VERY strict and he doesn't really enforce the rules of the school in an appropriate way. For example, just this week, the majority of the children in the cafeteria during lunch were being very loud. He gave the permission to a "Yard Duty" to turn out the lights. The yard duty turned out the light and told us that we have "No right to talk during lunch." Laws need to be enforced here. And our rights.

With the exception of a handful of teachers Coarsegold Elementery School is a truely horrible school, unless you are a part of the adult 'clique'. The teachers are lazy and biased. I've seen kids work their hearts out only to be overlooked in favor of the kid who has a parent working at the school or very involved. They take care of their own and if that's your kind of crowd, your kid will do fine. Otherwise, the teachers/staff pretty much ignore the child. If there was another choice when my kids were in elementary school, they would have been going someplace else. BTW, Yosemite High School, same district, same horrible expirence.Submitted by a parent
